How to Check IPO Allotment Status Online

After an IPO closes, allotment results are usually announced within 5–7 business days. Here are all the ways to check whether you've been allotted shares.

Method 1: Check on BSE

The Bombay Stock Exchange provides allotment status for all IPOs. Visit the BSE IPO status page, select the IPO name from the dropdown, enter your application number or PAN, and click search. This works regardless of which broker you applied through.

Method 2: Check on the Registrar's Website

Each IPO has a registrar that handles the allotment. The three main registrars are:

  • KFin Technologies (KFintech) — handles the majority of IPOs
  • Link Intime India — another major registrar
  • Bigshare Services — handles some SME IPOs

Visit the registrar's website, select the IPO, enter your PAN or application number, and check the result.

Method 3: Check Through Your Broker

Most brokers (Zerodha, Groww, Upstox, Angel One) show allotment status directly in their app's IPO section within a few hours of the announcement. This is the most convenient method.

Method 4: Check Your Bank Statement

A quick way to know: if your blocked amount is debited, you got allotted. If the block is released (money unblocked), you didn't get allotment and your money is freed up.

What Happens After Allotment?

  • If allotted — shares are credited to your demat account 1–2 days before listing. The blocked amount is debited from your bank.
  • If not allotted — the blocked amount is released back to your bank account, usually within 1–2 days.
  • If partially allotted — you receive fewer shares than applied for. The remaining blocked amount is released.

How IPO Allotment Works

For oversubscribed IPOs, allotment is done by lottery in the retail category. Each valid application has an equal chance, regardless of how many lots you bid for. This is why applying from multiple demat accounts (different PANs) improves your odds.

In the HNI category, allotment is proportional — if the category is 10x oversubscribed, each applicant gets roughly 1/10th of what they applied for.

Track Allotments Across All Accounts

If your family applies from 4–5 demat accounts, checking allotment status on each broker app and updating your records is tedious. IPO Tracker lets you log all applications in one place and update allotment status as results come in — with automatic P&L calculation.

Track applications and allotments across every demat account.
